she was sitting on the stage in a little awkward manner for an eastern classical singer. This stage was the only earning source for her. She had been there for more than twenty years, singing to numerous audiences that had grown with her. it was as if the doors for new comers were closed and naturally for her, this earning source was fading. As much as she was proud of her voice, she realized it was not only the voice that counted in her performance. She was aging and so was her charm.
On the stage now, she could not let that smile fade. Adjusting her posture yet again, and clearing her throat, she said, "aj main apko mera pasandeeda gana sunao gi". Cheers from audience...
In loud cheers she sang, "abhi to main jawan hu"...
